Oliver Monnette Monument Marion Cemetery, Marion Ohio |
Noted as one of the landmark monuments in Marion Cemetery, the Oliver Monnette monument and family section is located in the Simpson Section of the Cemetery. The monument, which is dominated by a woman seated in reflection, was erected after the death of Oliver's daughter Dimmie (some sources list as "Dimma") Monnett McClinton. Graves, bearing unique "circle in yolk" design are arranged around the monument which bears the inscription "He Givith His Beloved Sleep". The rectangular pillow style marker in the forefront of the plot is for Charles Abraham Monnette. son of Oliver and Mary Monnett. Immediatly west of the plot is the section occupied by the family of Oliver Monnett's brother, John Thomas Monnett.
