To the Promised Land

Long and useful Life Closed at an Early Hour Thursday Morning
                   Funeral Services at the Home Saturday Afternoon with Internment in Oakwood Cemetery

Mrs. Elsie Monnett Malcolm died at 3:40 o'clock Thursday morning at her beautiful home on the corner of Walnut and Warren streets, death resulting from Bright's disease from which she had suffered since the middle of last August. 

The funeral services will be held from the home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. H. G. Wilkinson, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, assisted 'by Rev. O. S. Thornberry, her former pastor, of Cincinnati officiating. Interment in Oakwood cemetery.

Elsie Monnett was a daughter of Abraham and Catherine Monnett and was born near LaTimberville, in Marion County, Ohio, July 16, 1844 and had attained the age of 72 years, 5 months and 12 days. On November 4, 1862, she was united in marriage to James H. Malcolm who departed this life at his home in Bucyrus June 1, 1900. To this union three children were born and all are living. They are Catherine E., wife of Mitchell Aye, of Manhattan, Kan.; Gilbert F. Malcolm residing south of Bucyrus, and Ella M., wife of Dr. W. A. Koch of Bucyrus. There are five grandchildren. Mrs. Malcolm was one of a family of twelve children and the brothers and sisters surviving her are Mrs. G.H. Wright of Marion, E. B. Monnett, Mrs. J. C. Tobias and Mrs. L. H. Ross of Bucyrus, M, J. Monnett, Los Angeles, California, A. E. Monnett, Sidney, Nebraska, M. W. Monnett, Indianapolis, Ind., and M. H. Monnett, Reno, Nevada. To the children, the grandchildren and the brothers and sisters, the sincere sympathy of a large concourse of friends is ex- tended in the great loss they have been called upon to bear. 

Mrs. Malcolm's father came to Crawford county with his father from Pickaway county in 1885 and settled on the farm on the pike, four; miles south of Bucyrus and was one of the best known stockmen in this section of the state and a, very wealthy man at the time of his death For nine years Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm resided on the "Mud Run" farm and then in May, 1878, moved to Bucyrus to educate their children. 

Mrs. Malcolm was a, member of the First Presbyterian church of Bucyrus and lived a sincere Christian life. She was truly a pioneer citizen of Crawford County; a woman devoted to her home and her family and was held in the highest esteem by her large circle of friends and acquaintances.  In her death a most worthy woman has been called to that Promised Land and she is now at rest with Him who giveth His beloved sleep.
