Information Resources Marion County Ohio Courthouse and Marion Courthouse Annex. In 2001, the Marion County Ohio Courthouse function was divided between two buildings.
Crawford County Ohio Courthouse. Located at the eastern end of the Square in Bucyrus, and across the street from the Bucyrus Public Library all functions are located in the courthouse proper. The Clerk of Courts offices is great to work with and in. Orra Monnette Papers, Los Angeles Public Library Special Collections Department, Downtown Los Angeles California. When he died, Orra Monnette donated his private genealogical work papers to the Los Angeles Public Library, of which he was Chair of the Board of Trustees. The collection contains 30+ volumes of notes, letters (some profound, other profane) and correspondence related to the the Monnet Family Genealogy and Monnette's works on Piscataway New Jersey. While the librarians will tell any visitor that "anything of merit is in his published works," however this original source material is a goldmine of original notes, documents and correspondence. The best part of this cache is that anyone who criticized Orra Monnette and his research is unaware of this material - making it very easy and enjoyable to prove their arguments worthless! The Hancock (County) Historical Society (Findlay Ohio) is located in the former home of Jasper and Mary Jane Monnette Hull. Given Mary Jane's love of history it is serendipitous that her home is used for such a worthy cause. This is also one of only three Monnett homes belonging to members of the twelve children of Abraham & Catherine Monnett still standing, and the only one accessible to the general public. The Hancock Historical Museum is located at 422 West Sandusky Street Findlay, Ohio 45840, 419-423-4433. |

Keith is descended through Isaac's son Lawson Monnett. www.heritagepursuit.com - Hosted by Al Potts. From its main page, heritagepursuit.com splits into several pages, each focusing on various counties in north central Ohio. Al's section on Marion County is a wonderful resource providing everything from access to the 1883 and 1907 Marion County Histories to a comprehensive listing of Marion County Cemeteries and those who are buried in the county. http://www.ohiohistory.org/dindex/ - Ohio Historical Society's death certificate index for years 1913-1937. OHS doesn't currently have death certificates for years 1909 through 1912 and 1938 through 1944 online. http://www.ohiohistory.org/resource/database/news.html - Ohio Historical Society's online newspaper database. If you plan to do research at OHS's library in Columbus, use this resource to pre-search the database and save time while you are on site. http://www.ancestry.com/search/io/about/main.htm - Ancestry.com is a subscriber based site for the genealogy hobbyist. A subscription to the firms United States Census images online is a great addition if you are unable to travel. Actual census images are reliable. http://www.odh.state.oh.us/Birth/vr_death.htm - The Ohio Department of Vital Statistics (ODVS). Provides information for ordering birth and death certificates after 1944. Service relies upon standard mail and/or walk up service (Columbus) - no internet requests accepted. If you choose walk up service in Columbus, ODVS will mail the certificates to you; they do not provide service while you wait. Cleveland Necrology Files - A good database that is hampered by a temperamental web site that is down a great deal. However, this is a great place to look for obituaries and death notices for people who may have died in Cleveland or had an obituary in the Cleveland Press or Cleveland Plain Dealer.
